One that shocks me was number two. One thing that truly shocks me is the way that women’s profit have just gone up somewhat. You would believe that on the planet we live today it would be equivalent well, to me it ought to be. It’s been numerous years since ladies have not been dealt with similarly. I like to treat everybody similarly, that ought to be the lifestyle. The way that crime percentage outside of drive-thru eateries is higher than crime percentages outside of topless bars is extremely astounding and fairly clever. I can perceive any reason why however, kind of, similar to it said; topless bars enlist security so I surmise that’s the motivation behind why the crime percentages higher at a spot that doesn’t have any security whatsoever. It’s clever in light of the fact that there’s typically many individuals outside of a drive-through eatery and what are they going to do go through the drive tossed and take your food. Broad testing of Islamic terrorist’s shows that they’re increasingly typical then intellectually sick. Leave, somebody that needs to slaughter their own race and penance themselves is assuredly intellectually sick. Alright, there doing it since they feel that that’s what there god needs. Another that was stunning to me was that bicyclists today that wear caps are bound to have a head injury than the bicyclists that don’t wear a cap. I can see that the motivation behind why is on the grounds that the ones that wear the protective cap are bound to accomplish something insane than the ones without. It just truly shocks me cause you think the ones not wearing a protective cap would cause more head wounds. I’m frightened to accomplish something insane on a bicycle consequently I don’t need a protective cap yet you ought to consistently wear one. All in all humanism is significantly more fascinating to me than some other science. It considers why we do the things that we do, and why various societies have various lifestyles. Should affirmative action be used to eliminate injustice Essay

Should governmental policy regarding minorities in society be utilized to dispose of unfairness - Essay Example Despite the fact that we might want to accept that segregation of minorities is prohibited, unobtrusive and secretive types of separation exist over every cultural framework. It exists practically speaking as well as in the considering man, cognizant and oblivious inclinations with respect to minorities underestimate their characteristics and exaggerate the characteristics of the larger part. Another point to be noted here is that all the significant colleges on the planet, every significant organization on the planet, everybody who has a state in the ‘ladder to successes’ is searching for competitors who are scholastically propelled, certain, have high confidence and are objective arranged. These attributes are made, sharpened and kept up by a framework which is for the most part larger part administered. Be that as it may, scholastic inspiration is somewhat difficult to find in government funded schools where educators are once in a while around. Also, thoughts of cert ainty, high confidence and inspiration could never go down well with a single parent who is left with the obligation of bringing up her child all alone. In what capacity can we question the objective direction of a competitor from a ghetto, if everything he could hear in the boulevards every day was the sound of fast weapon discharge? The destitution and financial drawback that numerous minority bunches endure deny them of the attributes that most perfect positions require. Be that as it may, are there any laws written to counter the mental and social expenses of separation which once in a while end inside a solitary age? Considering the shout being made over the requirement for objectivity in the dispersion of advantages, isn’t disregarding the differentials that deny access to benefits for specific gatherings, being emotional? Governmental policy regarding minorities in society †the route ahead It is under these conditions of shameful acts that the creator accepts gove rnmental policy regarding minorities in society gets basic. Governmental policy regarding minorities in society attempts to overcome any barrier of segregation which we intentionally or unwittingly make. Most occasions governmental policy regarding minorities in society isn't tied in with bringing the opposition down to the degree of the minorities; it is tied in with expelling the upper edge dominant parts have picked up, having played the game over hundreds of years. The creator accepts that governmental policy regarding minorities in society ought to be utilized as an instrument to dispose of shamefulness since governmental policy regarding minorities in society, per state, isn't tied in with being reasonable, it is tied in with killing ideas of pride and prevalence that originate from socially endorsed positions, delighted in unconsciously by a dominant part because of the mishap of birth. It therefore helps level an unpleasant playing field, expelling boundaries from the way of specific gatherings who have been hindered in their endeavor to arrive at progress. Henceforth, governmental policy regarding minorities in society wipes out bad form by being uncalled for itself. Noting the pundits Critics and advocates of the idea of governmental policy regarding minorities in society regularly consider it to be a demonstration of noble cause, a liberality appeared to legitimize the wrongs their progenitors had submitted; it is from here that the sentiment of inadequacy sneaks in. During the 1950s when a white male was given inclination for an occupation over a similarly meriting dark male, it was never observed as noble cause. Nor is it viewed as good cause when an administration today gives humongous tax reductions to a ‘deserving’

Beauty and the Geek

Beauty and the Geek No, not another Erika Ebbel entry. Shes way too classy. Instead, this. Ruth 07, field reporter for http://sam.mitblogs.com, discovered this curious flyer outside of the Athena cluster in building 24 (aka a computer lab on campus). I particularly love the warning this is not a dating show, but a competition. Okay, so maybe its a little stereotypical to be advertising an open casting call for geeks at MIT, but this is actually a really exciting opportunity. To my knowledge, there has never been an MIT affiliate appearing as a contestant on a reality television show. And believe me, my knowledge of reality television is pretty deep. (Yes, I do know that Chris Vu passed the first round of auditions for American Idol 2, but I dont think he got to appear on television as a result of that even though Carmen Rasmusen did life is unfair sometimes) So, who should we get to go to this audition? Ben is married with children, Matt is in Southeast Asia, and I dont think that either Spencer or Kevin really fit the geek image that theyre going for. I, of course, have no shame and quiver with delight at the prospect of one day appearing on a network reality television show, but Im also only 19 years old. If any qualified man in the Boston area reading this would like to check out this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, you can have a guest entry on my blog (readership roughly equal to that of the Washington Times) describing your experiences. Ill also throw in my Harvard Book Store frequent buyers card, good for 20% off your next purchase of up to $200. Ive actually never watched Beauty and the Geek. Come on, its on the WB. However, I once had half of an episode described to me and I think its kind of a cross between Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and Jeopardy!the beauties and geeks have to help each other study, and then the beauties have to solve theoretical astrophysics problems while the geeks have to answer questions about the life of Manolo Blahnik and identify fake Louis Vuitton bags with hilarious results! Mitra, of course, would easily win the entire show as either a beauty or a geek, although shed naturally have much better luck entering as a beauty. The reason that Ive never seen this show is that it falls just below my theoretical line of self-respect for watching reality shows. My hypothesis is that you can create a hierarchy of all reality shows based on the amount of self-respect you need to lose if youre going to lower your standards enough to enjoy them. Everyone must have a fixed minimum quantity of self-respect that therefore dictates what reality shows they can and cannot enjoy. Heres mine: The Amazing Race Iron Chef Project Runway Queer Eye for the Straight Guy Hells Kitchen The Apprentice Nanny 911 Survivor American Idol Americas Next Top Model The Newlyweds -line of my own self-respect The Bachelor(ette) Beauty and the Geek Joe Millionaire Boy Meets Boy For Love or Money The Littlest Groom American Juniors The Real Gilligans Island Extreme Makeover Who Wants To Be a Hilton? Temptation Island Bachelorettes in Alaska Love Cruise The Simple Life The Swan Britney and Kevin: Chaotic How many have you seen? Its a spectacular night here in Boston, with nearby summer lightning setting off a pandemonium of car alarms under the hazy red sky. If I didnt know better, Id say that some force of nature was trying to destroy Beauty and the Geek.

Social Medias Impact On The Lives Of Teenagers And Young Adults - Free Essay Example

Almost everyone in the world has a device that they take everywhere they go. These little things we carry may be destroying society as we know it. The things we use to contact people are causing so many problems in todays age. Most teens are using these 24/7, and it is causing our family time to be taken away, addiction, cyberbullying, and lack of socialization. There have been countless suicides of young teenagers today. Most of this leads back to one thing, cyberbullying. About 1.2 million kids a year drop out of school or skip class due to cyberbullying/ bullying. It is a huge problem in todays school. Their parentals not checking what they say on their devices and just simply not caring. It gives the child free range of what they can say or do to anyone, no matter what age. We hear cases of young pre-teens and teens around the ages of 12-16 commiting suicide due to the words of others and how they impact their lives. 5.4 million kids are harassed or bullied online. If you do not commit suicide it usually results in severe depression or anxiety. They usually get social anxiety and they think they have to say the right things and be the right way for them not to be bullied. People get bullied for the way they the way they dress, how heavy or skinny they are, their eye and hair color, and if they wear makeup or not. Therefore people try to change themselves to fit in with everyone else. It can also cause stress, not just stress with school, but stress about changing ourselves to be fit in and be like others. All the stress and pain often leads kids to alcohol and drug abuse. Which leads them to a life in jail, and then their whole lives have been wasted, because of some hurtful and crucial words that the popular girls said in middle school and high school. Instead of drug and alcohol abuse others may question their self-value. They question their worth in life, and if they belong or even should be on the Earth. Teens think that their physical appe arance is all they have and not personality or any other factors. If they dont have friends at school, they result to online friends. Teenagers dont know the dangers of talking to someone they dont know on their devices. Online friends lead to kidnapping if they go to see them in real life. How parents try to prevent it is by trying to enhance their privacy settings, but the kids just find a way around it, just to talk to someone they dont even know. There are only 10% of kids who meet their online friends and 75% of those kids are kidnapped. They arent usually talking to real kids their age, they are talking to child predators. Not in all cases though, some actually have real internet friends who are actually who they say they are. They talk to these people on social media. Social media is being used for all the wrong reasons, instead of posting pictures and talking to friends, they upload mean things, and manipulate people into sending them things that they should not do. The so called popular kids pressure the not so popular kids into thinking they have to have all of these social media apps, and they will be co ol enough to hang out with them and be friends. They also make them think they have to be the perfect person, when in reality no one at school not even the popular kids are as perfect as they think they are. Todays society makes young women think that they have to have big breasts, a big bottom, have a certain eye color, expensive name brand clothing, they have to be skinny, have to be popular, and have to wear makeup to look decent enough to leave their house. When none of this is true, and girls should just be themselves, but the media is so convincing, that they get plastic surgery, contacts, rack up enough money to buy good clothes, starve themselves, and try to fit in, to be good enough for everyone. Everyone makes it look like their lives are picture perfect, when no one posts their bad days. Their feed has to be pleasing to the eye, instead of the true lives they live, only the good moments never the cruel days that everyone goes through. They do this to win the popularity contest of life. Posting non-stop just refreshing your feed will lead to addiction, which is a big problem for todays age.

Lead vs. Led How to Choose the Right Word

The words lead vs. led are particularly tricky: Sometimes they sound alike and sometimes they dont. Led  (which rhymes with red) is both the past and past participle form of the verb lead (which rhymes with deed). The verb  to lead  means guide, direct, or bring to a conclusion. The noun lead (rhymes with red) refers to the metal (as in a lead pipe).  The noun  lead  (which rhymes with  deed) refers to an initiative, an example,  or a position at the front (in the lead).  The verb lead and the noun lead  are homographs: words that have the same spelling but differ in meaning and (sometimes) pronunciation. How to Use Lead Use the verb lead to indicate that someone is directing or at the front of others, as in: They lead the group to safety. He leads the group to safety. To use lead as a noun or adjective when you mean the metal, you can craft a sentence such as: Many children became sick due to lead paint on the walls of older houses. The paint was made with lead. You might also have read a sentence such as: The baseball player leads the league in home runs. This sentence uses lead in the sense of having a position in front of. How to Use Led To use led, simply use it as the past tense or past participle for lead, as in: He, alone, led the group to safety. They have led the group to safety. Merriam-Webster suggests that if you aren’t sure whether to write led  or  lead  as the verb in your sentence, try reading it aloud to yourself. If the verb is pronounced led (with a short e), write led. Examples To determine when to use lead or led, its simplest to first discuss the term led, which is always either the past tense or the past participle of the verb lead. So, you might say: We led the game until the eighth inning. The word lead, however, can have a number of meanings. If you want to use the word in terms of being in the front position, you might say: Now the Cubs have taken the lead. This means that the Cubs are, at present, ahead of their opponents. Up to this point in the game, they have scored more runs. You can also use lead in the same sentence in a couple of different ways: Exposure to  lead in paint may lead  to serious health problems. In this sentence, the first use of lead (rhymes with head) refers to the metal, which has been found to have many unhealthful properties. In the second use, lead (rhymes with bead) means to tend toward or to have a result. John Emsley,  in The Elements of Murder, uses both lead and led in the same sentence and adjacent to each other: The theory that  lead led  to the decline of the Roman Empire was first advanced in 1965. In this case, Emsley uses lead referring to the metal, and led as the past tense of lead. You can also use lead in a few other ways, including: Your advice will  lead  me into trouble. In this use, lead means to guide or cause a person to get into trouble. You can also say: The runner was in the  lead  for most of the race, meaning the runner was in front of his competitors, or, He took the  lead  in fighting the measure, indicating that he directed the fight against the measure. By contrast, if you say, His  lead  was the ace of spades, you are saying that he played that particular card first. How to Remember the Difference A few memory tricks can help you keep the various meanings straight. You might remember: I like to lead with an ace, but previously, when I didnt have any aces, I led with a lower card. Or you might try another memory trick like: He took the lead in letting everyone know that lead led to the decline of the Roman Empire. This may help you remember that lead, meaning a leadership position, is pronounced with a long e, while led as the past tense of lead, as well as lead the metal, is pronounced with a short e. Special Uses and Idioms Lead has a myriad of other uses. It can mean a clue, as in: The detective had no leads to go on. In this case, its often used as a plural. Lead can also be used as an idiom, as in: He had a lead-foot. Of course, a human being does not have a foot made of lead. Rather, lead is a heavy metal, so the idiom is using the term to indicate that the person has a tendency to step on the gas pedal too hard and drive too fast. Some dictionaries even list the term leadfoot, meaning a person who drives too fast, as in: Joes leadfoot was always getting him into trouble. In this use, clearly Joe does not have a leadfoot or a lead-foot—that is, a foot that simply weighs more than the average foot and therefore pushes harder on the gas pedal. Instead, Joe chooses to disobey the law, put the pedal to the metal (fully depress the gas pedal), and drive much faster than the posted speed limit, possibly leading to speeding tickets and other moving violations. There is no tendency to keep prices fixed within the fast food industry. Oppositely, there are constant price wars between fast food competitors (AmosWEB). In 2008, Taco Bell began offering products at prices ranging between $0.79-0.99 in order to undercut the dollar menus at McDonald’s and Burger King. Wendy’s has taken on a similar strategy, offering a double hamburger for one dollar. Many companies are following this trend in congruence with their competitors and this is creating a possibly detrimental price war (Motley Fool). These price wars have led to losses for many fast food companies trying to keep up with their leading competitors’ dangerously low pricing. The giants of the industry can afford to set their prices extremely low; however, companies such as CKE Restaurants Inc. are experiencing large losses in 2010 due to their inability to price as low as front-runners, including McDonald’s and Burger King. Due to the damaging price wars, â€Å"CKE Restaurants Inc. (CKR) recently reported a loss of 6 cents per share for the first quarter of fiscal 2011† (Seeking Alpha). Pervasive Computing and Communications Workshops

Question: Discuss about the Pervasive Computing and Communications Workshops. Answer: Core Brand Values of Google Google has implemented one of the most diverse organizational cultures in their workplace (Liu, Au Choi, 2014). As a result, they were able to build some unique and effective core brand values that are discussed below, The management of Google is always keen to recruit and work with talented and experienced people. The workplace environment of Google is built in a way that employees can flourish and grow. Google is a quantitative company that uses data to make decisions (Zhu Westphal, 2015). Technology innovation is their main objective and they have always built world's best technology and products. In Googles challenging and energetic work environment, the management celebrates their success and each others accomplishments, professionally and personally. Future planning of Google Cloud computing has made the Server Message Block market (SMB) market a gold mine for service provider organizations. According to Choi and Varian, (2012), through cloud computing, Google can not only retain its current SMB base but can also attract new small business organizations that will help it to gain a competitive advantage. Microsoft has already done a great job in the SMB and enterprise markets. They have moved their traditional applications and platforms to the cloud that made it easier for them to run the business on a high note. That is why; it can be said that Google had to confront Microsoft head-on in cloud computing segment. Google's decision to take on Apple is another right decision taken by the management. Every four out of five smart phones in the world are equipped with Android OS. Still, consumers prefer "I-Phones" as only Apple can release upgrades and updates which are easier for the customers to follow. On the other hand, manufacturers of Android are slowly but steadily trying to cut Google out of the loop by adding their own tweaks to the software. As a result, Google was losing their grip and Apple started to improve their market share. On the other hand, Google gains its biggest revenues from the advertisement (Choi Varian, 2012). That is why; the management wants as many people as possible on the web. The more users are there on the web, the more advertisement Google can sell. Therefore, to keep their revenue stable and to keep improving in the future, Google has decided to launch their own smartphone Nexus that will help them to control Android and all relevant software once again. Googles move to quit China because of censorship issues was not a good decision. It is true that Google experienced a number of cyber attacks in China and discovered that Gmail accounts of Chinese human rights activists were hacked (Tan Tan, 2012). All these happened because of the censorship rules and regulations of the country. Some said that Google took the right decision; however, the global companies must understand that they will face different challenges and policies in different countries (Lwe, Mandl Weber, 2012). Some of the policies will create obstacles and will prevent global companies to conduct business. Quitting is not an option as they can adopt alternative ways. For example, Google could add censorship evading functions through its web browser Chrome (Mason 2013). Microsoft Microsofts strategy In its initial days, Microsoft was competing against Netscape that had 72 percent market share. During that time, Microsoft implemented a strategy where their new web browser Internet Explorer was collaborated with its office products such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Therefore, users who wanted to use Office products became an Internet Explore user also (Pisano 2015). During a poor economic time, when the consumers denied Vista, Microsoft launched a campaign named as Windows life without walls. A series of commercials were also launched under the campaign of I m a PC. These campaigns helped the organization to improve morale of the employees and gain loyalty of the customers. Besides, in order to understand what the customers want and how they like to buy products, Microsoft opened a number of retails stores in 2009. This helped the organization to observe the customers closely. Pros and Cons of "I'm a PC" campaign The campaign was launched by Microsoft to challenge the Get a Mac promotional campaign of Apple. However, through this campaign, Microsoft could identify the customers who were looking for fancy designer computers. It also exhibited the innovative power of the company and the usage pattern of the updated version of the machines. Besides, Apple, through their campaign tried to convince customers that computers are of no use (Peng 2013). However, Apples campaign was launched with the same aims and objectives. As Apple was the first company to launch such as campaign, they got all the credits, as there is no place for copied contents. Acknowledging Apples campaign According to Shapiro and Varian, (2013), the decision of acknowledging the campaign of Apple was a good decision made by Microsoft. Apple, through their campaign tried to prove that PC is a dull and clunky thing. Microsoft had to do something to protect their place in the market. That is why; they launched that campaign and promoted their capability of innovation. This campaign helped the organization to gain loyalty of their employees and customers. Besides, Microsoft had to launch a campaign for another reason. Apple started to convince people that personal computers are useless. If Apple could finish their campaign successfully, the chances were high that Microsoft could lose their entire market share. IDEO Reason behind IDEOs success The primary reason behind IDEOs success is their focus on establishing an effective plan that helped them to gather information by conducting widespread market research. The management of the organization worked hard to integrate buying behavior of the customers along with product life cycle (Chudasri, Walker Evans, 2013). On the other hand, IDEO also took a positive approach towards design thinking which is known as the study of consumer behavior (Fuerderer et al., 2013). Their design thinking was developed based on practical needs and demands of the customers. Besides, the organization also provided superior customer services that helped the consumers to solve any product related problems. The management of the organization could also keep their customers highly interested to the products offered by the company. Regular communication with the consumers and clients along with behavioral mapping, IDEA could achieve success in the industry. Behavioral mapping helped the company to le arn and access the behavior of the customers. Last but not the least, IDEAs focus on improving technology also helped it to upgrade the products they are offering. That is why; they are able to serve their customers at a higher level. Challenges faced by IDEO in research and designing While doing research in order to improve the designs of its products, IDEA faced biggest challenges from the customers. Success of a research depends on data collected from the customers (Ahmed, Ting Johl 2015). Most of the times, while conducting a research, the organization had to work tremendously hard to collect proper information in order to create a customer friendly product design. Brand awareness for IDEO Being a consultancy organization, brand awareness for IDEA mostly comes from its great services. IDEA helped several organizations to solve critical problems related to usability issues. As a result, it could create a number of success stories among the customers. The organization also won many awards for it and clients (Leenders Dolfsma, 2016). These things helped to generate positive brand awareness for the organizations. Besides, the management of the organization is continuously framing new methods and procedures in its development and enhancement. As a result, they are able to improve their brand awareness. Their brand awareness has helped the organization to have clients such as PepsiCo, Ford, Nike, Bank of America and Prada. FULLA DOLLS Pros and cons of FULLA DOLLSs selecting marketing Fulla Doll is known as an alternative product of Barbie doll and is marketed mainly in Islamic and Middle Eastern regions. After it was marketed first time in the year of 2003, Fulla Doll became a role model for young Muslim girls with many families who wanted their daughters to dress like Fulla. The biggest advantage of Fulla is it is marketed only in Muslim countries where Barbie is banned because of its outer looks. Fulla came with a certain body composition that was similar to the Muslim culture (Bahemia Squire, 2013). As a result, parents had no problem and allowed their daughters to play with it. In spite of being tremendously famous in some countries, the biggest disadvantage was its limitation. As a result of regionalism marketing, Fulla could not tap into worldwide market and could not generate exemplary figures. Strategy to improve sales and segmentation of Fulla Dolls Currently, the management of Fulla Doll is mainly focusing on the Islamic countries where Barbie doll is banned due to its western looks and outfits. There, Fulla Doll serves as an alternative product of Barbie; however, it comes with Muslim fashion that includes hijab and abaya. Manufacturer of Fulla Dolls, which is New Boy Design, will have changed their strategy, which is to focus only on Muslim countries (Dunn Dunn, 2016). They will have to improve their advertising strategies to appeal to customers from different languages and religious beliefs. Besides, they will have to tap into foreign markets such as UK, US and other European counties; however, keeping the original ideas intact. "JIM Thomson Thai Silk Company." Strategy to extend product line Jim Thomson Thai Silk Company is considered as the leading Asian lifestyle brand in Thailand. The main reasons behind its success are its range of products that includes fabrics, accessories, apparels and upholsteries. Besides, the company is also good in blending Western designs along with Thai heritage and traditions (Sohail, Naz Malik, 2014). The organization is also connected with Ed Turtle that is a famous US designer known for customizing fabrics and products for projects of Park Hyatt Hotels and Aman Resorts. Besides, these two famous hotel brands, the company also serves hotels such as Conrad and The Oriental. Difference between JTTS and other brands The specialty of JTTT is their unique idea of mixing Thai traditional designs along with contemporary Western design. Besides, the organization made a triumphant conversion from silk fabrics to home furnishing (El-Bassiouny 2014). These extensions allowed the company to gain a competitive advantage over its rivals. Besides, it has also placed JTTS as a company that is way more different than other organizations in the same industry. References Ahmed, S., Ting, D. H., Johl, S. K. (2015). The Impact of Three Good Things Essay Example For Students

The Impact of Three Good Things Essay â€Å"Positive psychology is the science behind personality traits that makes it possible for individuals and societies to evolve and grow, it is a study of well-being and optimal functioning as well as human strengths. † Psychologists developed positive psychology interventions generally to help people in grow their positivity, well-being, relationships, creativity and other desirable consequences (E. g, three good things, gratitude visit and identifying signature strengths). Three good things is an intervention where participants write down three good things happening to them, or things that went well during the day, each day, for a certain time period. This method began to show positive effects about one month after the test period was over. At the one-month follow-up, participants showed more happiness and less depression than at the baseline. The participants also stayed less depressed and increased their happiness at the three-month and six-month follow-ups (Seligman, Steen, Park Peterson 2005). We will write a custom essay on The Impact of Three Good Things specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now I wrote down three good things happening to me, each night, for a month. I felt that it left a huge psychological impact on me. After about a week and a half, I started to look for things to be happy about automatically, without thinking about the assignment. I started to see things from another, more positive, perspective. I will keep doing this exercise because I felt like it made me feel more grateful about the small things than before. I also started to appreciate more things, (E. g. I walked back home from school, thinking about my friends and family, it was 85 degrees in October as I was walking around this beautiful lake. It made me appreciate a little thing like that, knowing how rough and cold it is back in Sweden). I think that the well-being test will show a difference, not necessarily a huge different, because I was pretty excited when I moved here to Florida, but definitely a difference. We tend to take a lot of things for granted as we fall into daily routines and I truly believe that these interventions could be a great tool to use in the desire for true happiness. As society is becoming more and more automatic, fast paced and electronic it is really easy to focus on materialistic things such as new phones, new cars, new houses and other miscellaneous things. It makes us forget what really matters in life; people we meet, places we see, etc. We forget how lucky we are and forget to cherish the beautiful things we get to experience. I would like to recommend these interventions rather than having â€Å"sick† people eat anti-depressive prescription drugs that are addictive and dangerous. I hope that positive psychology will only grow bigger and get the recognition it deserves. The only negative implication I can think of was that I had to remember writing it down each night. But then again, is five minutes each day really too much to ask for, in order to improve your own happiness? Ask yourself.

College Argumentative Essay Topics

College Argumentative Essay TopicsCollege Argumentative Essay Topics has become much more common in law school due to the huge increase in enrollment in law schools. If you are working in a law firm and wish to include some law topic essay topics into your assignments, there are a few things that you should be aware of before you start writing.Law students are generally fairly good writers when it comes to analyzing a situation and coming up with a solution, but are not always able to express themselves clearly and concisely when addressing specific legal problems. There are many law firm materials that can be helpful in helping to write an effective college argumentative essay topic. These include legal journals, legal dictionaries, law textbooks, law review articles, and so on.Law professors will give students copies of their essay topics for each semester's syllabus. The topics vary from year to year but are usually covered in greater detail in law school courses. Law professors w ill normally expect students to discuss specific topics from different areas of law.Law professors will also want students to write essays about how they interpret the cases written in their books. As part of their assignments, law professors will be looking for students to understand the different types of cases that are covered in their books and provide an explanation of how the various factors weigh in the determination of a case.Law professors will also want students to read a variety of case studies and find out more about the law issues addressed in those cases. The better a student's understanding of the law, the more likely they will be to understand why a given decision was made by a court. Students will also be doing their homework while they are doing the assignment.Students may also be required to provide a legal interpretation for any section of the law written in a textbook. In addition, students will be required to read an essay based on the legal issue raised in a c hapter in the book. They will be required to write an essay that will discuss the related fact or facts presented in the case study. Most law professors will not expect students to write about the politics or ethics of the case as these are often already discussed in law school. Most law professors are very impressed with students who understand the various issues that affect the law. However, if a student seems to be addressing a political issue, they may be asked to write a separate essay to clarify the topic. As with any law topic essay assignment, law professors will want students to participate in discussions. In addition, law professors will be asking students to provide contributions and responses to statements being made in class.

How to Write About Characteristic Examples in Writing an Essay

How to Write About Characteristic Examples in Writing an EssayWhen writing an essay, you will often be faced with the task of writing about a particular type of characteristic example in writing an essay. The goal is to outline some type of general theme that can then be applied to a single essay, or even to several essays. The first step is to determine what type of essay you are going to be writing, then you need to figure out how to write about it, and finally you need to make the characteristics more apparent by presenting them in a concrete manner. In writing's essay, I have learned to use examples, stories, and descriptions to illustrate and describe particular instances of character. I also write personal essays on a consistent basis. Since I know many people who have been through the same thing as me, it helps to be able to discuss similar experiences, similar problems, and similar solutions. If you follow these three steps, you will be much better off.The first step is to und erstand that your goal is to have an obvious goal. You need to come up with a goal and determine how to go about accomplishing it. Once you know the goal, you should outline a plan to achieve it. Now you must commit to that plan; you must have faith in your plan to do whatever it takes to bring it about. Now you want to come up with a plan and determine how to make it happen. The next step is to define your process. This is crucial because you need to be able to describe the steps you take to bring about your goal. Finally, you need to describe how you went about accomplishing the goal, how you approached it, and how you felt about your overall accomplishment. The next step is to draw a detailed plan in relation to a specific time frame. Since there are several steps involved, you must provide a detailed description of the entire process. Also, you must remember that you cannot change the current plan if you do not see success with one part of the plan. You need to stay committed to t he general plan. While you are defining the goal, you need to be aware of how much work you will have to do. Most people know that writing is a very hard job, but the truth is that many writers never know the true extent of the work that they must do. What I mean by this is that many writers wait until the end of the writing process to determine how much work there is involved. In reality, the work usually begins with the beginning of the writing process, which is to write. When you define your goals and outline a complete plan, you are well on your way to writing your essay. When you are beginning a writing project, it is very important to begin with a clear goal. Remember that you need to be aware of the various different skills needed to get you through the writing process. All these things can be found in the outline and plan that you are creating before you begin your writing. Now that you know the steps in writing an essay, the next thing that you need to do is to define your met hod. In addition to finding examples in writing an essay, I have found that a series of journals and articles are the best way to teach people how to come up with a plan for their own writing projects. After writing your first draft, you will need to maintain your finished product as you will see fit.

In this paragraph, we will be discussing the exposition, followed by the interpretation. In these parts, we will discuss how to write a good exposition. The first step in writing an essay is writing an introduction. This is a broad introduction which highlights the main thesis of the essay. It is also known as the hook, and it should not be difficult for you to write. In fact, you may want to add in a personal anecdote or two at the end of the introduction. The conclusion is one sentence which will summarize all the points that have been made in the essay. In what way did violence and intimidation contribute to the essays

In what way did violence and intimidation contribute to the essays The Italian public had always loved a leader taking action and uses violence, previously before Mussolini and fascism, a man called Dannunzio had tried to clam a city called Fiumie with a seize, even though he didnt gain much from this what could only be seen as a side show; Mussolini saw from these events that the government was inefficient to act on such a prank like this and the public was very impressed by the action. Mussolini took note of these things and copied marching songs, uniforms, straight-armed salutes and the idea of marching on Rome. So violence had contributed to success long before fascist used it. In extracts from Balbos diary he describes a lot of violence that went on in the early 1922. The fascists burnt down the socialists buildings to strike terror into the heart or their enemies. He also tells us how this means of violence and intimidated the police into helping the fascists escape with a whole fleet of lorries this shows that violence put the fascists in control and forced officials to corporate with them. An anti-fascist wrote about how the fascists used stomach pumps, doses of castor oil as laxatives, hot irons on chest and forcing the socialist leaders to eat live toads: were all means of torture used to stop the socialist leaders form carrying out the socialist movement. An estimated 2000 socialists were killed by the fascists between 1920-22: the socialist council were so disrupted by the attacks that they had to be replace by perfects to re-establish order. Another main thing the Fascists did to make the socialists look bad to the Italian public eye and officials: was to go to socialists meetings out of their uniform so they were recognised and started fights a riots, then the uniformed fascists would come in and break up the fights and save the day. This made the socialists look violent and disorganised. All the violence against the s...

The Dangers of an Imperfect Invulnerability

The Dangers of an Imperfect Invulnerability The common phrase Achilles heel refers to a surprising weakness or vulnerability in an otherwise strong or powerful person, a vulnerability that eventually leads to a downfall. What has become a cliche in the English language is one of several modern-day phrases that are left to us from ancient Greek mythology. Achilles was said to be a heroic warrior, whose struggles over whether to fight in the Trojan War or not are described in detail in several books of Homers poem The Iliad. The overall myth of Achilles includes the attempt by his mother, the nymph Thetis, to make her son immortal. There are various versions of this story in the ancient Greek literature, including her putting him in fire or water or anointing him, but the one version that has struck the popular imagination is the one with the River Styx and the Achilles Heel. Statius Achilleid The most popular version of Thetis attempt to immortalize her son survives in its earliest written form in Statius Achilleid 1.133-34, written in the first century AD. The nymph holds her son Achilles by his left ankle while she dips him in the River Styx, and the waters confer immortality on Achilles, but only on those surfaces that contact the water. Unfortunately, since Thetis dipped only once and she had to hold onto the baby, that spot, Achilles heel, remains mortal. At the end of his life, when the arrow of Paris (possibly guided by Apollo) pierces Achilles ankle, Achilles is mortally wounded. Imperfect invulnerability is a common theme in world folklore. For example, there is Siegfried, the Germanic hero in the Nibelungenlied who was vulnerable only between his shoulder blades; the Ossetian warrior Soslan or Sosruko from the Nart Saga who is dipped by a blacksmith into alternating water and fire to turn him into metal but missed his legs; and the Celtic hero Diarmuid, who in the Irish Fenian Cycle was pierced by a venomous boar bristle through a wound to his unprotected sole. Other Achilles Versions: Thetiss Intent Scholars have identified many different versions of the Achilles Heel story, as is true for most ancient history myths. One element with lots of variety is what Thetis had in mind when she dipped her son in whatever she dipped him in. She wanted to find out if her son was mortal. She wanted to make her son immortal. She wanted to make her son invulnerable. In the Aigimios (also spelled Aegimius, only a fragment of which still exists), Thetisa nymph but the wife of a mortalhad many children, but she wanted to keep only the immortal ones, so she tested each of them by putting them in a pot of boiling water. They each died, but as she began to carry out the experiment on Achilles his father Peleus angrily intervened. Other versions of this differently crazy Thetis involve her unintentionally killing her children while attempting to make them immortal by burning off their mortal nature  or simply deliberately killing her children because they are mortal and unworthy of her. These versions always have Achilles saved by his father at the last minute. Another variant has Thetis trying to make Achilles immortal, not just invulnerable, and she plans to do that with a magical combination of fire and ambrosia. This is said to be one of her skills, but Peleus interrupts her and the interrupted magical procedure only changes his nature partially, making Achilles skin invulnerable but himself mortal.   Thetiss Method She put him in a pot of boiling water. She put him in a fire. She put him in a combination of fire and ambrosia. She put him in the River Styx. The earliest version of Styx-dipping (and youll need to blame or credit Burgess 1998 for this expression that will not leave my mind soon) is not found in the Greek literature until Statius version in the first century CE. Burgess suggests it was a Hellenistic period addition to the Thetis story. Other scholars think the idea may have come from the Near East, recent religious ideas at the time having included baptism. Burgess points out that dipping a child in the Styx to make it immortal or invulnerable echoes the earlier versions of Thetis dipping her children into boiling water or fire in an attempt to make them immortal. Styx dipping, which today sounds less painful than the other methods, was still dangerous: the Styx was the river of death, separating the lands of the living from the dead. How the Vulnerability was Severed Achilles was in battle at Troy, and Paris shot him through the ankle then stabbed him in the chest.Achilles was in battle at Troy, and Paris shot him in the lower leg or thigh, then stabbed him in the chest.Achilles was in battle at Troy and Paris shot him in the ankle with a poisoned spear.Achilles was at the Temple of Apollo, and Paris, guided by Apollo, shot Achilles in the ankle which kills him. There is considerable variation in the Greek literature about where Achilles skin was perforated. A number of Greek and Etruscan ceramic pots show Achilles being stuck with an arrow in his thigh, lower leg, heel, ankle or foot; and in one, he reaches calmly down to pull the arrow out. Some say that Achilles wasnt actually killed by a shot to the ankle but rather was distracted by the injury and thus vulnerable to a second wound. Chasing the Deeper Myth It is possible, say some scholars, that in the original myth, Achilles was not imperfectly vulnerable because of being dipped in the Styx, but rather because he wore armorperhaps the invulnerable armor that Patroclus borrowed before his deathand received an injury to his lower leg or foot that was not covered by the armor. Certainly, a wound cutting or damaging what is now known as the Achilles tendon would hinder any hero. In that manner, Achilles greatest advantagehis swiftness and agility in the heat of battle- would have been taken away from him. Later variations attempt to account for the super-human levels of heroic invulnerability in Achilles (or other mythic figures) and how they were brought down by something ignominious or trivial: a compelling story even today.
